SABOTEUR CHAMPIONSHIP RULES:
Time of the championship: 30.09. 10:00 - 18:00
Venue of the championship: Fashion and entertainment center Rīga Plaza
Participants: Anyone who has registered, no age limit (need to know the Saboteur game rules as they will not be explained).
PARTICIPATION FEE: 5 EUR
ORDER OF PLAY
The main tournament lasts 5 rounds.
If a total of 30 or more participants participate, then after the main tournament, the best 18 play the semi-finals, after which the best 6 play the final, the winner of which is the Latvian champion.
ROUND
One round consists of three plays (or a full game of Saboteur). In each round, the roles are reassigned and points are awarded at the end of the round. The game follows the basic Saboteur game rules with minor changes to roles and scoring as described below.
ROLES
Unlike Saboteur's regular game, the tournament has two changes:
- You will always know exactly what roles are in the game.
- In addition to dwarves and saboteurs, an egoistic dwarf comes along, whose task is to win alone (he does not win together with ordinary dwarves).
POINTS
At the end of each hand, points are awarded depending on the outcome of the hand.
- If the saboteurs win, then the saboteur gets 4 points if he is the only one, or 3 points if there are two or three saboteurs.
- If the path to the gold is created by the selfish dwarf, then he alone receives 4 points.
- If the path to the gold is made by an ordinary dwarf, then this dwarf gets 3 points, and every other ordinary dwarf gets 2 points.
DIVISION BY TABLES
In the first five rounds, the distribution at the tables is drawn.
Each table is played by 6 players (2 saboteurs, 3 normal dwarves, 1 selfish dwarf), however, if the number of participants is not divisible by 6, tables with 5 participants (1 saboteur, 3 normal dwarves, 1 selfish dwarf) or 7 participants are also created (2 saboteurs, 3 normal dwarves, 2 egoistic dwarves).
If there is a semi-final, then the division at the tables takes place according to the rating:
Table 1 – 1st, 6th, 9th, 10th, 13th and 18th place.
Table 2 – 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th and 17th place.
Table 3 – 3rd, 4th, 7th, 12th, 15th and 16th place.
The 6 best participants according to the ranking obtained after the semi-final (or after the main tournament if there was no semi-final) play in the final. The winner of the final becomes the champion of Latvia and is entitled to represent Latvia at the world championship in November.
RATING
In order to rank players, firstly, the number of points of the player is taken into account, secondly, the number of wins, and thirdly, the rating of the player's opponents.
