Brain Games plans for 2023

We have all already heard about the games that the Brain Games localization team has translated into Latvian and which are already available in stores. But now it's time to put the cards on the table and discover what Brain Games will bring us in the next year, because these games include not only award-winning hits, but also brand new news.

In an earlier blog post, we talked about why localized games are necessary. This time it's time to discuss the localization process itself. First, it is necessary to translate all the texts of the game - rules, cards, texts on boxes and everything else. The translation process itself can turn out to be much more complicated than it initially seems - not all expressions can be translated directly, and the length of the texts also changes, which can take up more space than intended.

As soon as the translations are prepared, the preparation of the print files themselves begins - all texts must be replaced with the new ones, and moreover, it must be made sure that they fit properly in the intended places.

After the files are prepared, production can begin. There are two paths here - manufacturers can decide that they will develop the games themselves and have to import them from the factory, or manufacturers can set the standards and Brain Games can choose where the game will be printed. This is where the company "Folded" comes to the rescue, where games can be printed right here in Latvia. The factory is specially designed for the mass printing of games and puzzles, not only for Brain Games, but also for the needs of other companies.

"Folded" opens the door so that board games for the Latvian market can be produced faster, avoiding long and expensive delivery processes. Probably, very soon, world-famous games will be produced in Latvia.

Draftosaurus

One of the first games to be localized with the help of Folded will be the dinosaur drafting game Draftosaurus , where players try to create the most attractive dinosaur zoo for visitors.

New Exit games

The breakout game series "Exit" has already released more than 30 games, 27 of which are available in English. So far, only four have been available in Latvian, but other versions will be translated very soon.

Exit games are a breakout adventure in a box. Players get clues, solve puzzles and try to make their way to the exit. By overcoming each puzzle, new information and components are obtained, which are useful to find the right path. In "Exit" games, players have to be creative, because clues can be hidden on every component of the game, and often some of them are destroyed during the game.

Breakout games aren't for everyone, but their fans want to play every one of them. To understand which category you are in, it is worth trying at least one of these games.

Flamecraft

One of the most fiery games in the last month is "Flamecraft" . The cute dragon-themed game hasn't left BoardGameGeek's hottest game chart since the Spiel exhibition in Essen. "Flamecraft" is a brand new game, and the localization process has already started to make this fantastic board game available to everyone interested in the Baltics as well.

Flamecraft has been getting a lot of buzz over the past month, with particular praise for the game's delightful illustrations and cute dragon and shop names.

"Flamecraft" is a game for the whole family, where players visit different shops in the city, add new assistant dragons to them, collect resources to improve the current shops in the city and get the best reputation.

The rules of the game are very simple - during your turn, the player must go to a town store, where he must perform one of two actions - get resources or enchant a booth. Although it sounds very simple, the different cards and countless shops open up deep strategic possibilities, making each game unique. In addition, the game has various bonus cards that players try to complete during the game or at the end, so the winner will not be known until the end of the game.

Flamecraft was originally available on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, but it was zero-produced as a game and entered the world of board games with great fanfare. Since this game is brand new, it hasn't received any board game awards yet, but expect plenty of them for this amazing masterpiece.

The game has also been praised by domestic board game reviewers "Board Game Hangover". “Lots of good things to say about this game,” said Board Game Hangover in a review.

Games by Brain Games Publishing

A couple of new card games created by Brain Games Publishing, a subsidiary of Brain Games, will soon be available in stores, which will be developed and produced in Latvia. Family games Zing-a-Zam and Karakum, as well as the Mimic Octopus series, will be the first to be printed.

Zing-a-Zam

Zing-a-Zam is a simple family-friendly pick-and-stick game that's great fun with little players. The rules are very simple - players play cards from their hand and whoever played the highest number gets points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins.

But there is a catch! In this game, we don't see the cards in our hands because we are holding them facing the other players. That's why we often don't know what we're going to play. Fun guaranteed!

Karakum

Karakum, on the other hand, is more of a classic game with its own raisin. Players accumulate resources, which are used to purchase camel cards that are added to their caravan. However, each subsequent camel can only be of the same color or value as the previous one. At the end of the game, the player with the most valuable caravan wins.

The simple rules of the game will allow players of any generation to enjoy it, but at the same time, the strategic planning will make even experienced players puzzle.

Mimic Octopus

One of the funnest new party additions to the Brain Games lineup will be Mimic Octopus, a party game where players must discreetly find their teammates, if any, while talking. But be careful, because someone can try to infiltrate between you and take all the points for themselves!

A very simple and fun game that can be played with almost anyone. In addition, the game is available in three versions - Original , Cringe and Flirt - so that each company can choose the most suitable one for their group.

All these games were shown in October at the German game show "Spiel", the largest board game exhibition in the world. People who played these games gave very positive feedback, so we are excited and proud to start production. There is also a special surprise in the world of ICECOOL!

Part two of MicroMacro

These are far from the only news to be expected soon. Over the next year, new versions of well-known games will also be localized. Fans of investigative games will have the opportunity to return to MicroMacro: Crime City to solve new mysteries in the second part of the game , MicroMacro: Crime City 2 .

The " MicroMacro " game series has a total of four parts, each part of one huge map. There are 16 crimes to solve in each game, but by putting all the pieces of the map together, players will have access to even more special crimes to solve.

Saboteur: The Dark Cave

Also, a new part of the well-known game "Saboteur" is expected. It will be called "Saboteur: The Dark Cave" and will be a completely independent base game that does not require the original version to play.

In the version of " The Dark Cave " , the gold miners worked hard and dug to the gold, but a sudden earthquake trapped them in the cave. Well, the dwarves try to dig tunnels at the corners of the square, because one of them has an exit. But not all dwarves are trying to reach the light of day, because there is a traitor among them.
