Brain Games Jānis recommends

As many of you already know, we are big game enthusiasts and each of our employees has their own taste when it comes to games. Some like long and complex strategy games, others like co-op, and still others like skill games. In any case, we share a great interest in everything related to board games and their culture, so some of our colleagues have agreed to tell us about the games that they find interesting and relevant at the moment.

Jānis is a big board game enthusiast and one of the oldest employees of Brain Games. Jānis spends his day testing and developing new game projects. Here is John's choice!

ICE COOL

The Ice Cool game has won the globally prestigious Kinderspiel des Jahres award as the best board game for children this year!
It is an exciting board game for family, parties and celebrations. The first "pinju" game in the world, in which figures can both twist and jump, as well as the unique "box in a box" design, gives you the opportunity to create a substantial playing field from what appears to be a single box. Players take on the roles of catchers and pranksters to catch each other, collect fish, jump over walls and get the most points.
Jānis: I'm one of the authors, that's enough to be able to recommend this game to everyone!

Fallout

Jānis: I'm going to joke a little here. I haven't actually played this board game, but I have played all the Fallout PC games. And I REALLY, REALLY like them. And it can't be that the venerable Fantasy Flight Games is going to make a bad game using this license, right? (Please, please no!) Either way, this is one of the most anticipated games of the year for me. Looking forward to trying it out over the holidays!

Alchemist

Alchemist is an exciting strategy board game. In this game, 2 to 4 alchemists compete with each other to discover the mysterious secrets of the art of alchemy. Players are alchemists who carry out the orders of various characters and mix potions for them. The game takes place in 6 rounds, everyone chooses the order of the players themselves, for which those who finish last will be rewarded. Alchemists gain wisdom by mixing new recipes and checking the results using a smartphone application. Players compete with each other by inventing new recipes, building their academic reputation, collecting money and buying special abilities.

Jānis: Alchemist is a game of deduction ( " Elements, dear man, " says my wife) in which different ingredients make different potions each time (the application takes care of the variety). And then, our task as alchemists is to understand the structure of our ingredients so that we can make the right potion so that we don't get poisoned by trying it on ourselves. And would sell it to the customer at a good price. And the day will surely come when I will be the most powerful alchemist and laugh at my wife's feeble attempts to advance her theories at the local alchemist university.
